En la sala Collectors Project, Photology presenta una exposición especial de fotografías vintage dedicadas a los míticos años Disco de las décadas 70 y 80. Esta muestra quiere recordar aquella época en la que Nueva York vivía entre sexo, arte, drogas, cultura pop y música disco. Los artistas fotográficos seleccionados, Bertoglio, Galella, Gorgoni, Makos y Warhol, supieron aprovechar los primeros síntomas de un mundo que estaba cambiando, aquel de la “cultura total” y el “esnobismo de masas”.
Precisamente en los lugares con más vida nocturna (como en los inicios Max’s Kansas City y más tarde Studio 54), Nueva York se convierte en la avanzadilla de esta nueva cultura en continuo movimiento entre la alta sociedad y los suburbios. Se crea un sistema cultural transversal hecho de nuevas experiencias: mientras las visiones poéticas y literarias de la Generación Beat se introducen en el ámbito de la música pop, la nueva y desinhibida cultura gay impregna el arte de las galerías más renombradas de la ciudad. El cambio producido en Nueva York en este periodo histórico es lo más radical que le ha ocurrido a la sociedad occidental de finales del milenio.
Algunas de las obras seleccionadas se expusieron en Italia en 2017 (“The NY Scene”, Palazzo del Governatore de Parma) y viajarán en 2020 a los Estados Unidos (“Studio 54: Night Magic”, Museo de Brooklyn, Nueva York).
